Help You Can Trust
We provide thoughtful, reliable assistance that respects each parent’s independence and gives the people who love them peace of mind, all with the warmth of a daughter.
Why I Created Your Parent’s Helper
Hi, I’m Allison Friedman, founder of Your Parent’s Helper.
Living alone can be exhausting at any age. Every responsibility belongs to you, and if you do not handle something, it does not get done. It's as simple as that. As we get older, or when an injury or change in circumstances makes certain tasks more difficult, even routine responsibilities can begin to pile up.
Needing help with a few things does not change who someone is or diminish what they can do. Sometimes, having another set of hands just makes life much easier.
I have seen this in my own family. Even when essential care is in place, countless ordinary details still fall to the people who love us. Those people may live out of state, be in the wrong season of life to help, or have no time or capacity left to take on one more responsibility. And that's okay. That's why Your Parent's Helper must exist. To bridge the gap. To allow families to release the guilt and allow someone trusted to step in and do what needs to be done.
Someone has to set up the new iPad, stock the favorite snacks, find the photograph connected to a special memory, clear old food from the refrigerator and pantry, wait for the repairman, organize the drawer that has become overwhelming, hang the Christmas lights, or set up the menorah so the season can still be filled with magic.
Daughters, sons, and other loved ones want to do these things. But love does not create more hours in the day, shorten the distance between homes, or eliminate the responsibilities they are already carrying.
I lost my grandmother before I was old enough to understand what she needed or how much our family was carrying. I wish I could return to that time as the person I am now and be there for her in all the ways I did not yet comprehend. I cannot change that part of our story. But I can create the kind of support I wish had existed for her.
So, here we are.
No one should be made to feel like a burden simply because certain parts of life have become harder. Even when a son or daughter needs to step in, help can still be offered in a way that protects the parent’s dignity, privacy, preferences, and sense of self.
Support should make life easier without making someone feel smaller.
That is why I created Your Parent’s Helper: to step into the space between complete independence and traditional caregiving, handling the ordinary things with warmth, good judgment, and respect.
We help create order at home, complete the projects that have been lingering, simplify frustrating technology, preserve photographs and memories, coordinate household needs, pick up the essentials, and take care of the practical details that keep life moving forward.
Protecting each client’s independence and sense of freedom is not a small detail of this business. It is central to everything we do.
We listen to the parent, respect their preferences, and agree together on how to keep the people they love informed. They should be able to tell a friend, “My personal assistant did a lovely job helping me around the house today,” and say it with pride, knowing they received support that makes their life easier.
The difference is not only what gets done. It is how someone feels while receiving help: respected, comfortable, understood, and involved in the decisions that affect their home and daily life.
I created the kind of service I wish had existed for my grandmother and the kind I would want for my own parents someday if I could not be there regularly. I would want to know that someone trustworthy was showing up, helping with the things I wished I could handle myself, and treating them with the same patience, warmth, and respect I would.
My hope is to build more than a service. I want to create a trusted sense of community and add a little more love to the world while preserving the independence, privacy, and dignity of every person we help.
I could not do this for my grandmother then. But I can do it now.
Everything in my life has led me here. For the first time, my purpose feels clear.
I’m Your Parent’s Helper. And I could not be more proud to be.
With love,
Allison Friedman
